After the success of the Fishmas campaign in the UK last year, the marketing effort moved across the channel to France. On 10 September, a Fishmas celebration was held at the ambassador's residence in Paris in collaboration with the Icelandic Embassy. Guests included media, influencers, buyers, and distributors from the French market. The event's highlight was a cooking demonstration by an award-winning chef, Viktor Örn Andrésson, who prepared some incredibly delicious Icelandic dishes. Not only did guests taste the quality fish, but they also put on aprons and got cooking too for a fantastic time together!
Fishmas is a marketing campaign by Seafood from Iceland. It is a collaboration consisting of about 30 processing, sales, and service companies to the fishing industry, together with the Confederation of Icelandic Fisheries Companies (SFS) and Business Iceland.
The campaign aims to increase the export value of seafood by strengthening awareness, branding, and influencing consumers' attitudes towards Icelandic seafood. Seafood from Iceland emphasizes the premium quality of Icelandic fish, particularly cod and salmon that are very popular in France. The French market is significant for Icelandic exporters. Approximately 78% of the export value to France was cod in both retail and hospitality markets.
